Michelle McAdamDOWNSTREAM MARKETING, BRANDING & COMMUNICATIONS

As President of Chronic Communications, Michelle McAdam has built the reputation of many a medical device company, from well-known names such as J&J and Edwards Lifesciences, to emerging and mid-sized companies. Using her 20-plus years of strategic and creative communications and branding approaches, she has established clinical and corporate credibility, driven revenue growth, enhanced competitive edge and neutralized issues. Her programs have spanned medical devices across the therapeutic spectrum, including spine/orthopedics, ENT, oncology, eye care, cardiovascular, women’s health, anesthesiology, neurovascular, diagnostics, general surgery and more.

Previously, Michelle served as Vice President, Global Communications and Corporate Branding for Edwards Lifesciences, where she led external and internal communications, crisis management, corporate branding and Web. There, she helped to grow sales for the SAPIEN transcatheter heart valve by more than 250% in two years, in part, by generating a half-billion media impressions for its positive pivotal trial results. She also managed several issues for the company, including an FDA warning letter, lawsuits and a Senatorial investigation, among others. She served as a key member of the team crafting earnings announcements, annual reports and Shareholder Meetings, and partnered closely with Government Affairs on key initiatives.

Prior to Edwards, Michelle held senior leadership positions at several global public relations firms, including Edelman, Weber Shandwick and Porter Novelli. Her earlier work with consumer and technology brands, such as Pepsi-Cola, Mattel, General Mills and Hewlett-Packard, taught her how to intrigue the patient and translate technical value propositions into clear and powerful stories.

Michelle is a proud Trojan from the University of Southern California and enjoys traveling and eating her way around the world.
